Edo Accessories: Bags, Hair Ornaments, and the World of Edo

Kawagoe City Art Museum
Finished
In the Edo period, people developed unique accessories like fukuromono bags, combs, and hairpins, pursuing beauty and luxury in everyday items. Created from materials like nishiki, kinran, and imported fabrics, these pieces retain their timeless elegance, though they are seldom found in their original preserved condition. This exhibition presents approximately 250 items from the Kikakudo Collection, providing a window into Edo-period fashion and lifestyle in the historic city of Kawagoe.
