Emergencies! 047 Li Muyun “People Who Will Soon Crash at Point Nemo”

NTT ICC Inter Communication Center
Finished

Artists

Li Muyun
This audiovisual installation is inspired by the true story of Sergei Krikalev, a former Soviet astronaut who was stranded in space for nearly a year due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. It portrays Krikalev as a “lost soul” and contrasts Krikalev's plight with the space station Mir’s descent into Point Nemo, an oceanic graveyard for decommissioned satellites. The work explores why such displacements and losses continue to happen in the world.
