Senjafuda, sometimes translated as “votive slips,” are printed slips of paper that boldly display the name of a visitor who prayed at a temple or shrine, where they are most commonly seen pasted to gates or pillars. Erica Ward’s new watercolor series fits an array of motifs and scenes into the small, vertical format of the Senjafuda.
