Festival Flowers, Tree of Life - Design and Tools

To commemorate the broadcast of NHK's morning television series "Ranman" in April of this year, based on the story of plant taxonomist Tomitaro Makino, who was born in Kochi Prefecture, this exhibition will feature arts and crafts and folk materials related to flowers, trees, and other plants.

This exhibition explores how flowers and trees have been used to express the meaning, focusing on materials in the prefecture.

1. Lecture: "Flowers and Style"
Date: Sunday, June 4, 14:00-16:00
Lecturer: Eri Sato (Professor Emeritus, Kochi Prefectural University)

2. "The Folk World of Flowers and Trees" Lecture Series
(1) Flowers at Festivals: Friday, May 5 (national holiday)
(2) The Dead and Flowers: May 20 (Sat)
(3) Tree of Life: June 18 (Sun)
All from 14:00 to 15:30
Lecturer: Mitsuoki Umeno (curator of the museum)

3. Exciting Work
(1) Let's make a bean dish and a toothpick made of a broadleaf tree!
