Hina Dolls of the Mitsui Family

Mitsui Memorial Museum
Finished
This exhibition, the first in three years, brings together hina dolls and hina utensils that have been cherished by the wives and daughters of the Mitsui family. The exhibition will display hina dolls and hina utensils formerly owned by Motoko (1869-1946), wife of Takamune, the tenth generation of the Kita Mitsui family, Toshiko (1901-1976), wife of Lord Takaku, the 11th generation, Hisako Asano (b. 1933), the only daughter of Lord Takaku, and Okiko (1900-1980), wife of Takacho, the ninth generation of the Isarago Mitsui family. Especially worth seeing is the gorgeous 3-meter wide Hina decoration made by Heizo Oki V of the Maruhei Oki Doll Store in Kyoto. Galleries 6 and 7 feature newly donated paintings, crafts, and dolls from recent years.
