Hina Dolls of the Mitsui Family

Mitsui Memorial Museum
Finished
This year, the cherished Hina dolls and accessories that the ladies and daughters of the Mitsui family have treasured will be showcased together.

On display are exquisite items that were carefully maintained by Mitsui family members such as Motoko (1869-1946), the wife of the 10th generation Mitsui family head Takamine, Toshiko (1901-1976), the wife of the 11th generation Mitsui family head Takakimi, and Okiko (1900-1980), the wife of the 9th generation Mitsui family head Takahisa.

Notably, a magnificent Hina doll display measuring 3 meters in width and 5 tiers in height, specially crafted by the renowned Kyoto Maruhei Ooki Ningyo Store, 5th generation Heizo Ooki for Hisako Asano (born in 1933), the only daughter of Takakimi, is a must-see.

In exhibition rooms 6 and 7, special displays of Hina dolls from the Maruhei Bunko in Kyoto will be presented.
