Artists

Hiroo Kikai
The photographer Hiroo Kikai left behind works throughout his lifetime under four themes: "Persona," "Tokyo," "India," and "Anatolia." One of his globally recognized series is "Persona," where he spent 40 years visiting Asakusa, taking individuals of interest to the walls of Senso-ji Temple for continuous photography. This conceptual work is highly esteemed today as contemporary art. On the other hand, his approach to printing, done by his own hands, exhibits an extremely artisanal aspect. Although photography is typically a form of reproductive art, the prints he personally crafted during his lifetime possess a unique and distinctive presence. This solo exhibition will showcase selected works focusing specifically on images featuring animals.
