Artists

Hisashi Eguchi
Hisashi Eguchi led the field with his comedy manga in the 1980s when manga expanded in scale to become a major industry in Japanese culture. He then began to focus on beautifully depicting women and continues to be at the forefront, influencing the entire creative industry to this day.

Kaikai Kiki Gallery introduced Eguchi’s work for the first time at Taipei Dandai and Art Basel Hong Kong in 2022, namely two large paintings produced at Kaikai Kiki Studio based on the artist’s original illustrations. His work, which has gained many followers in today’s contemporary art world, has also attracted keen attention from collectors as the originator of a genre. The exhibition, his much-awaited first solo show, will feature 15 new paintings. Once again, the paintings are produced at Kaikai Kiki Studio based on Eguchi’s original drawings, completed after the process of repeated reviews and approvals by the artist.
