Artists

Hoshun Yamaguchi
This year marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of Hoshun Yamaguchi (1893-1971), whose lifetime was dedicated to creating diverse Japanese-style paintings. After moving to Hayama, Kanagawa in 1947, Yamaguchi produced vibrant Sansui artworks, influenced by Western-style modern painting and inspired by Yamaguchi's studies in Fukushima's Urabandai area. Yamaguchi's artistic career includes numerous works depicting Fukushima's natural beauty, likely influenced by the artist's ancestral connection to the Tohoku region. This exhibition celebrates Yamaguchi's unrelenting pursuit of beauty, focusing on Fukushima-inspired artworks.
