House of Shiga

Shiga Museum of Art
Finished
Shiga Prefecture, home to many housing construction-related factories, has supported the development of residential architecture in Japan since modern times. Attracted by the rich natural environment centered around Lake Biwa, Shiga has seen increasing use as a location for vacation homes and bedroom communities, while also preserving long-standing traditional villages.

This exhibition explores the connection between Shiga Prefecture and Japanese residential architecture, examining how the lives and buildings of people living in Shiga today will shape future lifestyles and environments.
