In between: Shiseido Magazine Advertisements from the 1970s

The Shiseido Gallery will hold a series of special exhibitions introducing aspects of the work that Shiseido has created in each era.

The first of these exhibitions, “In Between: Shiseido Magazine Advertisements from the 1970s," will focus on Shiseido's creative work in the 1970s. The exhibition will feature approximately 150 graphic and visual advertisements for Shiseido's representative brands of the 1970s, including Chiffonette, MG5 (men's cosmetics), Brabus, and More (perfume). The combination of the visual images and the accompanying text (copy) in these advertisements creates a fascinating space that captures the imagination of the viewer through the gaps and blank spaces "in between" the visual images and the copy.

In addition to exhibiting visual images and copy through video and actual objects, the exhibition will also feature graphic designer/artist Yuudai Osawa, a member of the recently acclaimed ambient unit “Unknown Me," producer/architect H.Takahashi, and visual artist Yasushi Harada, who will be presenting a series of works by the likes of K.K. Kurokawa, K.K. Kurokawa, and K.K. Kurokawa, Visual artist Yasushi Harada will create a video and sound installation. The dynamic presentation of Shiseido's creative work from the 1970s, together with today's ambient music, will bring about new surprises and discoveries.
