Information Design in News Reporting - The World of Infographics and Newspaper Organization

Newspark - The Japan Newspaper Museum
Finished
Journalists at newspapers and news agencies strive to write articles in clear and understandable language to convey news to a wide audience. To make these articles even more accessible and comprehensible to a broader audience, "information design" is essential. Infographics that combine graphs, charts, photos, and text into a powerful visual presentation on large newspaper pages are highly regarded for their excellent design.

Newspaper layouts are crafted with various techniques to help readers quickly absorb a wealth of information. The fonts used in articles have also evolved to enhance readability. In digital editions, more information is conveyed through the combination of video, audio, and text, as well as the creation of interactive graphics that users can engage with. This exhibition introduces the "information design" efforts undertaken by newspapers and news agencies to deliver essential news, fostering a shared understanding in society.
