Into the Literary Forest: Kanagawa and the Writers Part 3 - From Osamu Dazai and Yukio Mishima to the Present

Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature
Finished

Artists

Osamu Dazai, Ango Sakaguchi, Toshio Shimao, Shohei Ooka, Kobo Abe, Yukio Mishima, Tatsuhiko Shibusawa, Shugoro Yamamoto, Takeshi Kaiko et al.
In the chaotic period immediately after the defeat in the war, Osamu Dazai and Ango Sakaguchi rose to fame under the name "Buraiha" (literally "The Decadent School"). Yukio Mishima, amidst the post-war prosperity and peace, succumbed to his sense of nihilism. This exhibition introduces the artistic worlds of these nine individuals, including Ryunosuke Akutagawa, who, by delving into ancient and modern texts, brought light to the obscured figures in history, each with their connection to Kanagawa. Additionally, in the "Expressing the Contemporary - Shonan, Yokohama, and the Suburbs" section, the focus will be placed on works by six contemporary authors, including Kan Yoshimura, and Ryu Murakami, set in the Kanagawa of their time.

*During the exhibition period, a collaboration project with "Bungo Stray Dogs" (Original: Kafka Asagiri, Manga: Harukawa 35) will be implemented.
