Iori Nishiwaki
Iori Nishiwaki was born in 1995 and graduated from Kyoto Seika University, printmaking course. After graduating, Nishiwaki lived and worked in Tokyo for four years before moving to Kyoto where she continues to pursue her art practice.

She creates collage works using used paper with drawings and painted materials.

In her words, perhaps because she grew up without a real sense of her own existence, she often finds herself overlapping with things that stand unseen in the city and fade into the past. Piles of graffiti and leaflets on walls, stones whose purpose is unknown, and the corpses of insects that have died there because they have no way out are a large part of who she is and have been a great source of inspiration for her work.

The collages in this exhibition are thus based on the concept of the weathering of the city and are developed using discarded objects and used paper.
