Joe Goode
Koki Arts is pleased to announce Joe Goode's second solo exhibition at the gallery. This exhibition will showcase 10 milk bottle sculptures and 3 milk bottle paintings. The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalog featuring a text by art critic Kentaro Ichihara.
As a pioneering artist of the Los Angeles art scene, Joe Goode combines elements of Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art in his work. His work is also closely associated with Light and Space. The milk bottle sculptures presented in this exhibition incorporate the idea of looking through something, a concept Goode has been practicing since his famous milk bottle paintings in the 1960s. Thickly applied with paint as though they were paintings, the milk bottles emit a strong sense of substance, and through the medium and holes, the viewer is able to see the form, light, and space inside.
