Artists

Julien Colombier
Based in Paris, France, Colombier was born in 1972. He is known for his unique world of painting, using pastels, chalk, and acrylics on black backgrounds. His densely compressed paintings, created by the repetitive fabrication of geometric motifs and plants, have a figurative yet graphically abstract quality. In recent years, he has also actively collaborated with brands and creators working in fields different from fine art, such as fashion, luxury, and craft.

This exhibition "Hopepunk" is Colombier's first solo exhibition in Japan since 2016. The exhibition, which was created to explore the artist's experiences and relationship with Japan and how these have influenced his practice, utilizes Colombier's iconic motifs to present a series of new works created specifically for the occasion.
