The exhibition features a publicly produced new work inspired by the K-POP idol group BTS.
Jun Osato has previously presented improvisational works using services provided by McDonald's as a medium and setting for creation, such as "Order," and video works like "Payments for 4902102072618," where he tattoos barcodes of products he altered and checks out at self-checkout.
The central theme of this exhibition, the influence wielded by BTS, is significant culturally and politically, serving as a multi-layered idol that inadvertently illuminates our contemporary identity. In this exhibition, Osato continues his previous style of reinterpreting gestures of consumption and will publicly create drawings of BTS song lyrics using their gum, one character at a time.
