KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre presents "KAAT Exhibition," an original series exploring new expressions through the fusion of theater space and contemporary art. The ninth edition of this exhibition features a unique new installation by artist Yoshitaka Nanjo, renowned for his works that explore themes of local history and place. His acclaimed pieces include "Ark of Light," a theater-style folk museum located at the tip of the Noto Peninsula in Suzu City.

The area where KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theatre stands has been inhabited since prehistoric times and was an important site during the Meiji era when it served as a foreign settlement and port, leading to the development of modern Yokohama. Even today, traces of this history are unearthed from the layers of the earth.

In this exhibition, visitors are invited to metaphorically dig into the depths of Yokohama's soil, uncovering layers of history and remnants of lives lived, to rediscover and reflect on the landscape and daily life observed today.
