Tatsuo Takayama
Tatsuo Takayama (1912-2007), a Nihonga artist from Oita, mastered traditional techniques in Nihonga. Takayama was a prominent figure in the Japan Art Exhibition (Nitten) and part of the esteemed "Nitten Sanzan" trio. The Kadokawa Culture Museum currently showcases Takayama's works, including pieces inspired by literature like The Tale of Genji and original cover art from Shincho magazine. Highlighted in the exhibition is Takayama's renowned piece "Peonies (In a Basket)," notable for its detailed depiction of petals that evoke a tactile sensation.
