Artists

ティエン・チイ
This exhibition marks the artist's first solo show in Japan and will feature the premiere of new works from the "XX Prescription" and "Tian Guan" series, which are themed around traditional Chinese medicine. After completing her major in printmaking at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in China, the artist has spent the past decade exploring the question of "What is reality?" through various media, including painting, performance, and video.

The exhibition will primarily showcase flat works created using embroidery. The artist has produced pieces that embroider the ideal human form created by gods and the image of gods as depicted by humans. They refer to this process as imitation, which they see as both a form of painting training and a dialogue with herself. Having experienced the COVID-19 pandemic, The artist has increasingly emphasized the use of embroidery as a medium that allows viewers to engage more closely with the work. They plan to continue creating even more intimate embroidered paintings in the future.

In addition to the new works, the exhibition will also include pieces from the solo show held after her graduation in 2013. This will provide a valuable opportunity to understand the deep connections between the artist's latest work and the changes in their artistic practice.
