Kanami Hano
We are pleased to present "Onna no Manimani," a solo exhibition by Kanami Hano. Hano creates portraits that seem to dissolve into space through the deep layers and blotches on Japanese paper. The quiet intensity of her works seems to flow into us as we follow the figures' gaze, which is intentionally blurred and blurred. Also, that is changing their expressions each time we look at them and giving us a discovery.

'Manimani' means 'to do something or present by letting others.' When she thought about the presence of her monotype prints, that word came to her with great empathy. Monotype prints, which are 'pictures that cannot be expressed without passing through some material,' and things that live in the flow of life. When the two are combined, the artist says, it is possible to express the 'presence' of the objects just existing there.

"The painted things by me are similar to the premise of a painting which is that there is no other choice but to stand there," she said. "So I'm trying to imagine a view of them, 'being there because they are there.'" The women who are there are also placed in unexpected situations. It will also be interesting.
