Kankou Tong
Kankou Tong, a Chinese immigrant to Japan, has been in Japan for 10 years. Initially struggling with the Japanese language and so on, the artist emphasizes the challenge of complete understanding when communicating with others. Tong believes that understanding requires an attempt to see from another's perspective. To bridge this gap, the artist uses visual art as a means of expression.

In Japanese, the "horizon" in the title can be represented as chikeisen or suikeisen, symbolizing the boundary between the ground or sea and the sky. However, this line is not physically drawn. The sky and the earth, or the sky and the sea, never truly merge. Tong has a history of transforming relationships and connections into art. While the horizon conceptually represents an unbridgeable gap, the artist holds onto the idea that, by sharing common ground and gazing at the same sky, people can eventually meet, even when the horizon appears to be an insurmountable divide.
