Karin Shikata × Ryo Ueno "Voices of the Lake"

Grand Front Osaka
Finished

Artists

Karin Shikata, Ryo Ueno
Photographer Karin Shikata, who lives in Berlin, Germany, continues to capture the ripples and afterimages on the surface of the lake.

The lake always speaks with different expressions depending on the season, weather, time, and the photographer's emotions of the day, even though it remains in the same place. Seeking dialogue as if the lake itself is alive, it seems to weave stories through the beauty of the moment. The lake is like a mirror reflecting one's heart.

Hanging scroll artist Ryo Ueno explored the stories reflected on the surface of the lake in Berlin with a new approach. While maintaining the traditional style of hanging scrolls, he completed four works with his unique perspective on the beauty of the lake. By using satin fabric printed with photographs and acrylic for the scroll ends, the transparency and brilliance of the lake stand out even more.

Through the beauty of the lakes in Berlin, these works invite viewers on a visual journey. The large hanging scrolls, measuring 130cm, become a presence that evokes a serene beauty as if nature is spreading out in front of them, even while they are indoors. Enjoy these works that combine Eastern and Western, tradition and innovation.
