Kasho Takabatake
The Yayoi Museum celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2024. Focusing on Kasho Takabatake, a highly popular illustrator from the early Showa period, the museum has been investigating and studying illustrators and publication art from the Meiji, Taisho, and Showa periods. In recent years, the museum has also paid early attention to cultural items such as furoku (magazine supplements) and manga, which follow the tradition of illustration culture.

The museum was established because the founding director, Takumi Kano, was an avid fan of Kasho Takabatake. Inspired by his encounter with Takabatake's works, Kano invested his own money to establish the museum. The museum continues to uphold Kano's passionate vision.

This exhibition features the works of Kasho Takabatake and recreates the atmosphere of the "Kasho Palace," where he lived with his young male disciples. Additionally, the exhibition will showcase items from the museum's prized collection and highlight the museum's history.
