Katue Kitasono
Katue Kitasono (1902-1978) was a poet who lived in the midst of the flood of modern art of the 20th century and continued to write experimental poetry. The new-fangled attitude and sensibility Kitasono demonstrated in literature also extended to painting and design. From the 1950s, Kitasono became involved in mystery in translation. The enigmatic and ominous atmosphere of mystery novels can be seen in Kitasono's photographs, known as plastic poems. In this exhibition, along with plastic poems, Hayakawa Shobo's book designs will be exhibited. It is an opportunity for visitors to experience what the poet imagined as translated night.
