Ryushi Kawabata
Along with Yokoyama Taikan and Kawai Gyokudo, Kawabata Ryushi ( 1885–1965 ) is considered one of the three masters of modern Japanese-style painting. He produced one masterpiece after another that overturned stereotypes in Japanese-style painting, continuing to amaze and transfix viewers. This exhibition looks into the unique ways Ryushi pursued the subject of Japanese-style painting over 80 years.
