Artists

Kaz Oshiro
Kaz Oshiro, a Japanese artist based in Los Angeles, references Pop Art, Minimalism, and Abstract Expressionism, but develops these ideas in a unique way. Oshiro explores various dichotomies, such as three-dimensional and two-dimensional, abstract and figurative, reality and illusion. The trash cans, amplifiers, cabinets, and suitcases that are synonymous with Oshiro's work are not immediately recognized as works of art. The wooden frame and canvas, however, indicate that the work is an art piece.

This solo exhibition, "Echoes from Oblivion," will be Oshiro's first exhibition in Osaka. This exhibition will present "Orange Speaker Cabinets and Gray Scale Boxes (2009)" from the gallery's collection for the first time in the Kansai region, as well as several representative works by the artist.
