As if bringing to life the main characters and animals in the paintings, Kei Makita explores shapes and forming motifs using abstract lines drawn unconsciously with a ballpoint pen as clues. Personalities, worldviews, atmospheres, and time frames appear floating on the picture plane. Makita creates characters that represent a world that is close to some kind of ideal, a world from the artist's imagination.
The exhibition includes many abstract expressions, unlike Makita's past works. It may be said that this exhibition is a group of works highlighting the atmosphere of the world Makita depicts.
