Keicho Nakajima 40 Years After His Death

The Museum of Art, Kochi
Finished

Artists

Keicho Nakajima
Nakajima Keicho (1898-1983) was a Japanese-style painter who played a leading role in postwar Japanese-style painting in Kochi. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of his death, this exhibition looks back on his painting career with works and materials from his early to late years, mainly works donated by his bereaved family in 2022. In the postwar period, when thickly painted Japanese-style paintings became mainstream, this exhibition will showcase a variety of works that uniquely explored the fusion of ink and mineral pigments.
