Keiji Ishida
At 30, Keiji Ishida, eager to explore the world of art unfamiliar to him, embarked on a journey abroad to study. In London, where his artistic journey began, he immersed himself in Western paintings at museums while inputting vast amounts of picture books and reference materials daily, continuously drawing scenes inspired by them. For his first solo exhibition in Kyoto, Ishida has created a series of works that blend painting and drawing, reminiscent of the world of picture books. His artworks evoke hidden narratives, providing viewers with the joy and surprise of imagination and interpretation.

The theme of the exhibition, "How would you like your eggs?" is a question often asked when ordering egg dishes at hotel buffets and the like. There is no single correct answer to the question of when a painting is considered complete, much like the various options available for cooking eggs, such as cooking methods and degrees of doneness. The artist intends to convey multiple possibilities for completion, inviting discussions at each stage of completion, mirroring the relationship between the question and the artist.
