Kengo Kito
Kengo Kito is widely acclaimed for his works that utilize everyday items such as hula hoops, scarves, and mirrors to extract contemporary, colorful hues and light, evoking the sense of living organisms and the expanse of the universe. He creates works that harmonize painting and installation, allowing each to interact with the other. In recent years, Kito has been continuously creating "Cartwheel Galaxy" painting works by using a squeegee to convey the rotational movement extracted from installations featuring items like mirror balls. He has added sequins and glass to the wheel-like strokes, extracting random light.

This exhibition will explore the theme of "lines" continually developed since the "Lines Kenji Kito Exhibition" at the Kanagawa Arts Theater Atrium in 2022. It will feature an installation that delves into the concept of "lines" and "cartwheel galaxy," where various lines are drawn using a pencil, presented for the first time. In recent years, there has been a conscious expansion of installations using lines, and it will be intriguing to see how this will affect painting.
