Kenji Aoki
Kenji Aoki is a Japanese photographer based in New York, known for his powerful yet delicate style characterized by unique color palettes and minimalism.

Aoki, who explores the extreme limits of still-life photography, has returned to Japan for the first time in 12 years. A limited-edition photo book has been published from his unique world that has been exploring "non-objects." For him, the subject is no longer important. The subject is minimized, through the subject, moving away from the subject.

For example, a single stick. Its relationship with the lying shadow is unrealistically perpendicular, almost like a two-dimensional illusion. In this minimal phase where nothing more can be subtracted, he pursues the relationship between light and shadow until the "something" that is there contradicts itself beautifully. The standing stick can be said to be "the 1 necessary for 0."

This book is a set of six volumes containing 26 still-life photographs taken in 2020. The design was done by Nobuhiro Yamaguchi, and it is a numbered limited edition of 350 copies. The first 50 copies will be signed.

Pre-orders will start on August 1st at the Fragile Books online store, and 50 signed copies will be available for advance sale at the Post Exhibition.
