Gallery Ether is pleased to announce Sign, a new solo exhibition by Nagasaki-based painter Kenki Tsujimoto, to be held from Saturday, October 15th through Saturday, November 5th.

In Sign, his first exhibition with Gallery Ether, Tsujimoto presents a new body of work created around a theme of "trajectories," the movement and influence of various things over time. Reflecting on a number of old texts, particularly Japan's oldest collection of poems, the "Manyoshu," the artist contemplates the thoughts, feelings, and words of people who lived more than a thousand years ago. He beautifully and masterfully intertwines figures, symbols, and objects together with fantastic and dreamlike spaces in a delicate and timeless fashion. Using natural minerals and pigments that are as timeless as the imagery into which they are carefully blended and layered, he challenges the viewer to contemplate their own "trajectory" as it is relative to the natural world and what we share with those who came before us.
