Kenta Kawabata
Kenta Kawabata is a young artist who graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts in 2019 as the first student of oil painting in the Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, and the valedictorian of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and completed the Oil Painting Techniques and Materials Laboratory of the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2022.

Since completing his studies, Kawabata has won the Grand Prize at the Kamiyama Foundation Graduation Achievement Exhibition and was selected for the Taro Okamoto Award for Contemporary Art. He has also held solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions.

Kawabata's works are based on real-life models, and he spends a great deal of time interviewing them and looking at them from a multifaceted perspective. These works express the sense of gap and lack that Kawabata himself feels as communication with people becomes more indirect due to the development of technology such as the Internet and the increased opportunities to meet face-to-face online.

This exhibition will feature approximately 20 new paintings created especially for this exhibition.
