Kihachiro Kawamoto has created several independent puppet animations in addition to the puppet dramas Sangokushi and the Tale of Heike. Five short works, "Hanaori", "Oni", "Dojoji", "Hiyake" and "Ibarahime or Nemurihime" were shown at the special exhibition in March.
The puppets used in his feature films "The Book of the Dead" and "Rennyo and His Mother" will be exhibited in this exhibition. In addition to the dolls, visitors can also view storyboards drawn by Kawamoto, scripts used in the films, and other materials not often seen. To give visitors a sense of the atmosphere of the filming location, some of the showcases have been removed so that visitors can see the dolls up close.
