Koji Ishiguro
Koji Ishiguro (1952-) is a sculptor from Yamaya, Sakata (formerly Hirata-cho). After graduating from the sculpture department of Tama Art University, he studied under the artist Tsuyoshi Takahashi (1921-1991), and exhibited for the first time at the 5th Nichibokuten in 1975 and the 8th Nitten in 1976, respectively, and has continued to exhibit to this day.

Ishiguro has received high acclaim in the sculpture world, winning the Nishimochi Prize at the Nichiboten Exhibition in 1993 and the Prime Minister's Prize at the Nitten in 2016. He has also created many outdoor sculptures throughout Japan, and among them, the one installed in his hometown of Sakata blends in with the nature of Shonai and the daily lives of its people and is well-loved by the local community.

Ishiguro has been pursuing harmony with space and beauty that resides in the form itself by expressing his mental images through plastic sculptures that combine human figures and geometric forms. This exhibition brings together approximately 50 of his early works as well as new works from recent years to introduce the world of the emotional space created by the human figure and geometric forms.
