Artists

Koji Kato
Koji Kato combines multiple media, primarily video and painting. From his unique perspective, he has created works that connect past and present, big and small stories, social issues, and personal narratives, and "tell" them anew through a life-size filter.

For an artist based in the Tokyo metropolitan area, this will be the first time he has presented his work in Hiroshima since "For Whom We Fight A-side / B-side," which was held at Gallery G and The Pool in the summer of 2021. As a member of the "For Whom We Fight Project Team," Isao Yamamoto of Tamamentai also collaborated on research in Hiroshima and contributed texts to the exhibition, which focused on the contradictions and tensions in the history and social relations of Hiroshima, focusing on individual people with visible faces, raising multilayered issues and provoking discussion.

For this exhibition, he will present new works related to "time" based on research and interviews conducted around the gallery in Tsurumi-cho, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City.

Koji Kato's “The Way of Ticking" will be held as part of "Hiroshima Art Galleries Week 2023," an art event that tours galleries in Hiroshima Prefecture, with various exhibition projects scheduled to take place at 12 venues over nine days from April 29 (Sat) to May 7 (Sun), 2023.
