Kumin Aya
Kumin Aya captures iconic scenes from movies, music, variety shows, and classic album covers from her unique perspective, embroidering various clothing items such as hats, sweatshirts, and shoes as her canvas. Unzipping a jacket might reveal Jack from the movie "The Shining" (Jack Nicholson), or using a hat's strap as a makeshift bench, Forrest from "Forrest Gump" (Tom Hanks) might be seen sitting. Playing with words, she creates an "Oppeye" hoodie inspired by the fashion magazine Popeye. Through irony and humor, she reconstructs iconic images based on the original functionality and design. Active since 2013, Kumin Aya has recently gained recognition for her embroidered jacket featuring the song "Ito o Kashi" by Ringo Sheena.
