The "OAG Art Center Kobe," operated by a collective of artists, designers, researchers, and more, will open in Okamoto, Kobe, this autumn. From November 19th (Sunday) to 27th (Monday), the center will hold a group exhibition titled "Kunst Party" over five days to mark its grand opening. The name combines the German word "kunst," meaning "art," with the word "party," which carries multiple meanings, including a festive gathering and a group with a specific purpose, such as a mountaineering team or unit. Reflecting the center's policy of engaging in art activities through the involvement of diverse people, the name is fitting for the grand opening.

The venue is a facility owned by the OAG (Association for East Asian Studies), a public-interest corporation established in 1873 (Meiji 6) to introduce Japan and other East Asian countries to German-speaking nations. The exhibition will feature works by twelve artists, including Tomoko Inagaki, Taitaku Iwana, Takuma Uematsu, Akiko Utsumi, Nobuyuki Osaki, Yumiko Ono, Takashi Kunitani, Hidetomi Tanaka, Kyoko Taniyama, Keijiro Nagamine, Yuki Hayashi, and Etsuko Watanabe, focusing on painters with experience in Germany. The works encompass painting, sculpture, video, photography, installations, and more, exploring the dynamics and situations of a society in constant flux. The goal is to reconsider the nature of communities while bridging Japan, East Asian countries, and German-speaking regions, fostering new relationships and ideas amid the ever-changing social landscape.
