Each work of Kyoko Miyamoto features a woman, against an even larger backdrop of decorative elements that borrow from the cultures of anime, manga, Gothic & Lolita fashion and so forth. These background elements are heavily influenced by subculture and pop culture and are a distinctive part of Miyamoto’s work. The artist’s realistic worldview infuses fine art with subculture, offering viewers the unique experience of crossing between two- and three-dimensional worlds. The blurring of the boundary between the ordinary and extraordinary is one of the charms of Miyamoto’s work.
In addition to Japanese and Western-style paintings, this exhibition features works in oil pastel. We hope you will enjoy the diversity of art that these different styles and techniques have brought to life.
