Yosuke Amemiya
This exhibition is the second installment of the exhibition project series Labonchi, which takes place in both the museum and a virtual space called the metaverse.

This time, the exhibition invites the artist Yosuke Amemiya, who resides in Ichikawa Misato Town, Yamanashi Prefecture, known for his representative works such as "Sculpture of Melted Apples" and "A Mundane Stone Carried for 1300 Years," to introduce new works that traverse between reality and virtual space.

Amemiya, after graduating from university with a major in oil painting, has been energetically producing sculptures, videos, performances, and various other media. In 2011, he went to Europe, and in 2013, he graduated from the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has been active in Berlin, Germany, until recent years. Core to Amemiya's works is the creation of phenomena or situations that cannot occur in reality, such as his well-known melted apple sculptures, which induce changes in the viewer's perception. Amemiya describes the exploration of the theme of V (virtual) and R (reality) as significant and essential in his previous works.

In this exhibition, Amemiya uses the title "The Unmelted" to suggest the imagination of a museum that never melts, akin to an apple. In this way, he gently blurs the line between the real world and virtual reality, stimulating the intrigue of reality.

Through the digital video works in this exhibition that utilize machines to expand the field of vision, called VR (virtual reality) headsets, please look forward to how Amemiya's themes of V (virtual) and R (reality) will be expanded.

※ Visitors can enjoy a virtual space experience using VR goggles in the lobby on the 1st floor of the main building.

※ The recommended age for the VR goggles used in our museum is 13 years and older. (We do not recommend use for children under 12 years old.)

Considering the importance of the exhibition experience at the museum, the online release will be available from noon on March 17th (Sunday). Access method and details to follow.
