Shinnosuke Tojo, Hal Matsuda, Ryu Ika
This is a three-person exhibition by Shinnosuke Tojo, Hal Matsuda, and Ryu Ika, with only two more exhibitions to be held in the Ginza space, including this one.

"Stacking" is a word that simply describes the essence of Ricoh's printing technology, which is based on the repeated layering of prints as thick as a strand of hair, down to a few millimeters. The three artists in this exhibition are pursuing the possibilities of StareReap in their own ways.

Shinnosuke Tojo has been vigorously expanding his activities since winning the VOCA Prize, the highest award at the 2019 VOCA Exhibition. In his everyday work, he creates metallic and illusionistic screens by grinding steel and copper on oxidized plates. In this exhibition, he has created unique pieces by painting and processing them on supports made of acrylic with transparent prints. The prints are considered only as materials, and StareReap is interpreted from both material and pictorial perspectives.

Hal Matsuda is an emerging artist currently enrolled in the graduate school of Kyoto University of Arts. Combining VR, which is a reproduction of space, and prints, which are reproductions of paintings, she expresses landscapes composed of abstract image fragments that are distinct from the high-resolution virtual space. In the past, his work has been based on the silkscreen technique, but this time she will present a large-scale work utilizing the characteristics of StareReap, which can directly connect the digital data of the work to the prints.

Ryu Ika is a photographer from Inner Mongolia, China. This summer, his visuals of Mr. Takeshi Kitano and others for the autumn/winter men's campaign of the luxury brand Loewe attracted a great deal of attention. He has also been selected for next year's VOCA exhibition, and his participation in this long-awaited group exhibition comes at a time when his work is attracting a great deal of attention. Ryu will present a series of works on the themes of motherhood, physicality, and the soul, in which he has a strong interest.
