Li Canchen
It is dubbed the era of humanity and called "Anthropocene." It refers to when humanity began to influence the Earth and its ecosystems. Since the Industrial Revolution, the impacts of deforestation and climate change caused by human activities have been overwhelmingly significant, and today's capitalism shows no signs of slowing down. How should humanity perceive the current state of capitalism, which is characterized by confusion, and the anthropocentric debates and their outcomes?

Li Canchen explores the relationship between nature and humanity from the sharp perspective of today's capitalist present. His works combine abstract imagery with emotional expressions, manifesting themes such as the transience of existence and the disappearance of matter. Destruction is said to be the catalyst for creation, a fundamental interpretation rooted in the principles of nature, and it is one of the approaches found in Li's artistic exploration. By utilizing the fluidity and randomness of water-based paints, images are deconstructed, decomposed, and eventually emerge in a state between existence and disappearance. This approach, challenging the dominance of reason, reveals an ever-changing world where the mental and perceptual interact.

Simultaneously delving into the self and directing attention to society, Li's artistic leaps extend beyond the relationship between nature and humanity, reaching into the nature of God in the spiritual realm. Li, expressing a desire to portray the real world as diminutive, transforms the strokes of his brush, traces of the body, and traces of destruction facilitated by the medium into artworks. His attempt to express the understanding of the spirituality of the self and society reflects a prophetic vision, suggesting something new and offering glimpses into the future of society.
