Makiko Kudo
Born in 1974, Makiko Kudo graduated from the Department of Painting, Faculty of Art and Design, Nagoya University of Art and Design in 2002 and currently lives and works in Kanagawa Prefecture. The book, “Being Reborn into Air," published this July, contains 150 works depicting moments that sparkle in ordinary life, scenes that cross between dreams and reality. The nostalgic and humorous works by Kudo, depicting boys, young women, animals, and plants, will slowly sink into the viewer's heart.

Kudo's solo exhibition at the Hiratsuka Museum of Art held from July to September of this year, 2022, was also highly acclaimed. In her last solo exhibition, she used old handkerchiefs as the material for many of her works, but this time she used old T-shirts. In addition to the doodle-like drawings on the surface of the T-shirts, there will be 27 new "one-point" prints that reveal the artist's playful and playful nature.

In addition to the drawings and prints, the exhibition will also feature the original T-shirts with the expressive boys, girls, and animals that are well-known in the artist's work, as well as printed T-shirts for visitors to wear.

The exhibition will be accompanied by the publication of her latest book, a collection of scenes from her solo exhibition at the Hiratsuka Museum of Art in 2022.
