Medel Gallery Shu is pleased to present Tender Pulse, a solo exhibition by Makiko Yuasa, on view from June 6 to 18.
Yuasa is a painter known for her use of pointillism to depict the human body and for compositions that incorporate metallic leaf to create a unique visual world. Within the ethereal and layered spaces formed by the use of leaf, faceless figures emerge through delicate dots, evoking a subtle yet compelling presence—one that seems to drift between “absence of existence” and “tangible reality.”
The passage of time, inherently suggested by the painstaking technique of pointillism, further deepens the atmosphere of each piece, enhancing the quiet tension within the painted space.
This marks Yuasa’s third solo exhibition at Medel Gallery Shu. We invite you to experience the present expression of an artist who continues to engage deeply and sincerely with the world of art.
