Masahisa Fukase
Starting his career in the early 1960s, Masahisa Fukase is regarded as one of the most important photographers in Japanese photographic history from the 1960s to the early 1990s. He participated in significant exhibitions such as "New Japanese Photography" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1974 and "Black Sun: The Eyes of Four" touring exhibitions in 1985-1986, which visited venues like the Oxford Museum of Modern Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, alongside photographers Hiroshi Sugimoto, Shomei Tomatsu, and Daido Moriyama.

While Fukase's artistic activities were abruptly interrupted by an accident in 1992, his work has been reevaluated since the 2000s, and various aspects of Fukase's photography have been discussed worldwide.

Curated by the photographer Masato Seto, who has worked as Fukase's assistant for many years, this exhibition will focus on Tokyo in the 1970s and 1980s, viewed through Fukase's iconic work "Ravens." On the opening day of the exhibition, Seto will share his valuable memories of the days he spent as Fukase's assistant. The exhibition is open to the public, so we encourage everyone to take this opportunity to visit.

Additionally, during the exhibition period, the appointment-based bookstore "Hi Bridge Books," located in Yoyogi Hachiman and opened last year, will set up a pop-up book space. Owner Mr. Takahashi will exhibit and sell vintage books and photo collections selected to reflect Fukase's era.
