Masako Ando Exhibition

Ichinomiya City Memorial Art Museum of Setsuko Migishi
Finished

Artists

Masako Ando
Masako Ando's oil paintings with motifs of children, woolen knitting, animals, plants, and flowers, painted on smooth surfaces, are full of a poetic atmosphere that attracts the viewer. Her oil paintings, which are formed in various pictorial elements such as detailed depictions and large margins, and her pencil drawings, which have a fine, hard texture, take a long time to produce and have been produced at the rate of a few works per year.

Recently, after moving to Seto, Aichi, and the birth of her second child, Ando has made a major departure from her previous expression with a series of ceramic relief works produced there. The related drawings and paintings also reveal a new attitude of carefully grasping the present moment of familiar objects.

The exhibition will trace Ando's history of consistently creating "paintings" while changing his techniques.
