Masayuki Inoue "Surrounded by Forms"

Galerie Tokyo Humanité
Finished

Artists

Masayuki Inoue
Inoue, a prominent contemporary ceramic artist in Japan, employs a unique technique of constructing large-scale forms by assembling multiple parts made from common materials. Inoue's larger works involve assembling over 100 parts with bolts, exploring the expressive possibilities of ceramics. At the solo exhibition last year, Inoe displayed 190 maquettes and various forms crafted from cardboard and cloth, hinting at new directions in his ceramic art. The current exhibition showcases 90 pieces stemming from the research conducted through these maquettes, transitioning from clay to ceramics. Despite their smaller size compared to previous works, each piece reflects Inoue's relentless pursuit of form, with remarkable volume and density.
