Memorial Museum for Soldiers, Detainees in Siberia, and Postwar Repatriates
Finished

Artists

Tsuguichi Koyanagi
In May 1945, Tsuguichi Koyanagi, a military photographer working on the front lines, closely followed the Giretsu Kuteitai paratroopers in Kumamoto Prefecture. He stayed by the side of the paratroopers before they went into battle and captured their final moments as they boarded their bombers after writing wills and letters to their families. This exhibition will reflect on Koyanagi's life and explore the paratroopers' lives through photos and letters from that time.
