Mes
Mes is an artist duo consisting of Takeru Arai and Kanae Tanikawa, who independently work in contemporary art and the club scene.
This exhibition features installations and performances using light, heat, and wax, which Mes has invented and defined as "live engraving." Mes's ongoing concerns and practices, as reflected in the title "Prayer / Play / Masochistic Act [P-L/R-A/E-Y]," manifest and disappear in the space as a continuum of modest actions. These actions evolve, offering a unique experience to each viewer.
Additionally, this exhibition attempts to reconstruct "Wax P-L/R-A/E-Y," which was presented at "QiPO 2024" and "Urban Gaze" in Mexico City this February. This reconstruction serves as a ritualistic lament, exploring themes of intimacy, resistance, and submission.
